Organ Cave is the 2nd longest commercial cave on the east coast. The caves houses the largest collection of Civil War Hoppers, V-Nats, left in the USA that are located in one place. We have remains of hoppers from the War of Organ Cave has 11 entrances and is the second-largest cave in West Virginia with about 40 miles of surveyed passages. The first recorded owner () of the cave was John Gardner. By , the cave was owned by John Rogers and was visited by guests staying at .

The Dikteon Cave, also known as Psychro Cave (due to its vicinity to the village of Psychro) or Andron Cave, is situated at an altitude of meters ( feet) on the northern slopes of Mount Dicte, which dominates the Lassithi Plateau and the whole of Eastern Crete. The focus of this book is on the more than caves of the Greenbrier Valley of West Virginia of which the 14 with lengths greater than 10 km have an aggregate length of km. The major caves form the core part of sub-basins which drain to big springs and ultimately to the Greenbrier River.

Organ Cave doubles as a museum, delineating its various uses during the Civil War and for centuries prior. For example, Organ Cave lies alongside the ancient buffalo trail, the Old Midland Trail.   Cave ecosystems are characterized by lack of light and, as a result, dependence on connectivity to the surface or internal microbial production for energy supply. Caves are actually part of a larger karst ecosystem that is the entire drainage basin through which moves water, energy and matter.
